Impressions of Bark exhibition at 98 Chairs - Goulburn

This is an exhibition of my latest artwork.   In essence, the inspiration for this collection of watercolour paintings, is an extension of my interest in trees.  As with the enormous variety of trees in existence, their natural markings give identifying characteristics in equal measure.  My interpretation of the bark forms, using a minimal palette, is to capture the shapes from a more expressive viewpoint rather than painting exactly what I see.   The shapes, on examining the bark very closely, take on a landscape quality of their own which evolves on the paper.  Click here to view a selection of images on display.
